Please Come To Our First Annual Number's Night

Please come help us celebrate our first annual Number's Night on January 23rd from 5-7pm. This day is also our 100th day of school! Wow, how time flies when you are having fun learning new things at school!  We would like the parents and the community involved in our school to make it a great place for your child(ren) to be involved in!  Come and have a simple meal together in the lunch room followed by some time in your child's classroom.  There will be people to assist you and your child to play, and/or create math games together. There  may be a math activity set up on the Smartboard so your student(s) could show off their math skills on our great technology that we have.  You may also  create a game to take home and play together. We hope that we can come to our first annual math night, we are extremely excited to show you what your child(ren) have been working on in class!

Postville Is A Healthy School

Our school lunch program offers healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally, provides a salad bar beginning with grades 3 – 12, and allows physical activity to school age kids throughout the school day.

Our lunch program provides a fruit and vegetable daily, including a fruit at breakfast.  The kitchen staff does not use salt in their cooking.  Spices and other salt free seasonings are used.  New items have been offered on the menu to give the kids an opportunity to try something different.  Postville Schools also provide a fresh fruit and vegetable program three days a week for students in K – 5.  The healthy snack (a fruit or vegetable) is brought to their classroom.

Physical activity is important in student’s education.  Providing healthy foods and allowing exercise in the student’s day provides greater learning and better well being of the individual.  Earlier this school year, students participated in a Start Somewhere program where they walked around our school campus.  More wellness activities are planned for physical activity for our students.

We are working together to make our school healthier and provide opportunities for better ways of living.  A healthy child is a happy child who wants to learn.
